The Company

Oloker’s breakthrough technology consists of a proprietary method for cardiac cell manufacturing and a proprietary human cardiac pro-angiogenic, CPC product (Cardiac Pro-angiogenic Cells Plus). Specifically, the manufacturing process includes an innovative, fully GMP compliant, highly efficient and cost effective scalable method of isolating CPCPlus in both autologous and allogeneic settings. CPCPlus is therefore classified as an Advanced Therapy Medicinal Product (ATMP) under EMA guidelines and EU legislation, specifically designed to exert a potent angiogenic effect on ischaemic myocardium and with a high immunomodulatory capacity.
Specifically, CPCPlus is classified as an ATMP-Tissue-Engineered Product (ATMP-TEP). In particular, CPCPlus is classified as a Tissue Engineering Product (TEP): a TEP is a product that contains or consists of engineered cells or tissues and is presented as having properties for regenerating, repairing or replacing a human tissue (ATMP Regulation (EC) No 1394/2007).
The invention addresses the unmet clinical need of a specific subset of patients with advanced coronary artery disease who are considered ineligible for state-of-the-art medical therapy and conventional revascularisation techniques (bypass surgery/coronary stenting). This population of no-option patients experiences a dramatically poor quality of life due to so-called “refractory angina”. The CPCPlus platform will then be used to expand the potential clinical applications to other ischaemic and non-ischaemic cardiovascular diseases.
